Benchmarks
How UK service business websites score
How the websites of trades, local services and professional firms score, and the problems that most often stop visitors calling or getting a quote.
The figures are being collected
We publish once we've checked at least 30 service business websites, so the averages mean something. Every check adds to it anonymously.
What we check that matters most for service business websites
- People can't tell if you cover their area
Local customers check first whether you cover them. If they can't tell quickly, they'll call someone else.
- There are no examples of your work or results
People want to see what you've done for someone like them before they get in touch. Without examples, many won't.
- People can't check you're registered or insured
People often look for Gas Safe, NICEIC or TrustMark before calling a tradesperson. The law also requires gas work to be done by a Gas Safe engineer.
- People on phones can't call you with one tap
Local customers on phones often want to ring straight away. If they can't, some will call someone else.
